The purpose of this Request is to obtain applications from qualified organizations and institutions for a program which reflects common objectives for introduction and establishment of modern, sustainable and high-performance feed-based technologies for commercially-oriented cage and pond-based fish production in Uganda. It is expected that this FISH activity will set the stage for aquaculture to contribute to achievement of USAID/Uganda?s Program Goal. To assist Uganda to reduce mass poverty, as well as SO7's strategic objective and Intermediate Results, by increasing the quality and quantity of protein food for Ugandans, generating foreign exchange, increasing incomes and employment, and improving resource use efficiency. The FISH activity is planned as a three year, $2.5 million activity to conform to the currently approved SO7 strategy period. Any follow-on activity will be dependent on FISH results, future funding, the future direction of USAID/Uganda's strategy and other program factors. Cost sharing is not mandatory but encouraged and will be evaluated.
